Blog 11- Storyboard

Above is our completed storyboard, the purpose of a storyboard is a key part for the planning o the music video; it allows us to picture what our video will look like before starting to film, it also gives the group direction and something to follow rather then wasting filming time deciding what to shoot.

When creating our own storyboard we chose to use photos for each frame because we all agreed that it would be a good idea to see what the shot will look like and a good opportunity to vi st proposed shooting locations.

We numbered each shot and write a detailed description of what camera movement would be used and what part of the song the shot would occur during.

Recce:

Our group decided that when taking shots for our story board we would visit our proposed shooting locations which is also known as a "Recce". A Recce is when locations are visited and assessed for their creative potential and to spot any hazards or obstacles that may occur during filming.

Our results:

House:

Our group assessed the house to see if it would be suitable to film the scenes of the house.

We found:

Access: This wouldn't be a problem as a member of our group lived in the house so they could plan ahead when we needed the house so that we would always have access.

Creative opportunity: We felt that the location fitted in with our video; it is a modern day house which will be perfect for filming our "present" scenes, there is a CD player which we can use to film the opening shots and the kitchen is perfect for our selection of still shots. We also feel when filming the "past" scenes with the boy and girl we can rearrange the kitchen table to make the location look different; in black and white the location will look much more dated.

Lighting: We felt that the lighting was suitable for this location e.g. there are a good amount of artificial lights for if its a cloudy day, we have blind and curtains to dim the light if the sunlight is to bright.

Forrest:

Access: We notice that the Forrest is public access so permission wouldn't be a problem however we need to make sure that we can get shots without members of the public walking into the frame so that may be a potential problem.

Creative opportunity: It will allow us to symbolise loneliness of the character and make the video more dark and story like. We felt there are plenty of creative shots we could achieve and the place looks really nice to film in.

Lighting: May be a problem on a wet day however due to the trees having not developed all their leaves natural light is very good in the area.
