This post will include the analysis of four music videos; I will comment on their genre, representation, narrative, audience and how the video shows meaning. Video 1:Eminem; Stan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOMhN-hfMtY This song's versus are rapped by eminem and he uses Dido's singing for the chorus, the genre is rap and the video represents an obsessed fan named Stan who throughout the video becomes more frustrated and angry which results in him committing suicide with his wife. The video relates to the lyrics of the song e.g. when eminem raps as the fan, the video shows Stan writing an angry letter which is the lyrics in the song. The video is set as a story; the beginning starts with a dialogues between stand and his wife, it then follows the lyrics to show eventually Stan driving off the bridge. The target audience most likely would be those who are fans of eminem or the genre rap. Video 2: Aha; Take On Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djV11Xbc914&ob=av2e This video includes cartoon animation and real life, it shows a woman being pulled into a cartoon book and falling in love with the cartoon character; throughout the video it switches from cartoon to real life. The video represents love and creates an imaginary world. The main audience for this would be Aha fans and some cartoon fans may watch the video for the cartoon part. Video 3: Spice Girls; Wannabe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJLIiF15wjQ&ob=av2e This video adds to the spice girls "girl power" theme; in the video viewers see them run riot in a posh hotel; each spice girl portrays there identity e.g. sporty. The video basically introduces viewers to each spice girl and is used to represent their personality as a group. The main audience would probably be children or teens who were fans of the genre POP.
Video 4: Michael Jackson;Thriller

The main target audience would be Michael Jackson fans and fans of the POP genre as this was the genre of music. The video looks well produced and has a variety of costumes involved it would probably appeal to younger people aswell interested in the whole fantasy story area.
